About the route
The route starts in Kvasy and goes via Kvasy-Menčul to Petros (2020 m). It then follows the saddle to Hoverla (2061 m), and then the main Chornogora ridge. It can also be done in reverse, from Dzembronya to Kvasy.
Along the way there are Breskul, Pozhyzhevska, Turkul, Lake Nesamovyte, Rebra, Lake Brebeneskul, Hutyn Tomnatyk, Brebeneskul and Menčul. There is water and tent sites near Nesamovyte, but it is often crowded there in summer. There is almost no firewood, so it is better to bring a stove.
After Mount Dzembronya, the route reaches Pip Ivan Chornohirskyi (2028 m), then descends through Vukhatyi Kamin to Dzembronya, passing the Dzembronya waterfalls. There are springs on the ridge, but water is not available on every section. Fill up in advance, especially before an overnight stay.
Please note. Weather in Chornogora can change quickly, so bring spare warm and rain clothing. The route passes through a protected area, and there may be a checkpoint on the saddle between Petros and Hoverla. For sections near Pip Ivan and Dzembronya, check the current access rules and border guard requirements in advance.
